No host plant alternation, spermogonia and aecia unknown. Uredinia amphigenous, cinnamon brown, on small purple spots; urediniospores echinulate, with 4-6 indistinct scattered spores. Telia mainly hypophyllous, pulverulent, chestnut brown on small purple spots. Teliospores 2-celled, broadly elliptic, wall smooth, of uniform thickness; pedicel short, hyaline, easily deciduous.
