No host plant alternation. Aecia hypophyllous, on yellowish leaf spotes, cylindical, yellow, with white recurved margin. Uredinia rust brown, hypophyllous, soon naked; spores with 3-4 pores. Telia hypophyllous, blackish brown, often in circles around the uredinia, long covered by the epidermis; spores 2-celled, 14-21 x 22-40 µm, ovoid, smooth; both germination pores capped by a conspicuous papilla; pedicel fragile.
