No hos tplant alternation, only telia. They are small, dark brown, pulverulent, on discoloured but never galled leaf spots. Teliospores one-celled, short-elliptic; wall smoth, of uniform thickness, germination pore apical, covered by a clear papilla. Pedicel hyaline, short, fragile.

the Index Fungorum (2016) synonymizes the species with Coleosporium tussilaginis; this must be a mistake.
