Uredinia hypophyllous, soon naked, pale brown; spores remotely spinulose, with 3-6 randomly distributed pores. Telia hypophyllous, rust-coloured; spores one-celled, very finely verrucose, warts often in parallel vertical lines; top with a low hyaline papilla; pedicel deciduous, short. Gäumann writes that the sculpture is very fine and sometimes even imperceptible; contrariwise, Klenke & Scholler state that the sculpture is conspicuously coarse.
