No host plant alternation, only telia. These tiny, amphigenous, sometimes also on the stems, dispersed, blackish brown to black. Urediniospores are formed in small number between the teliospores, yellow, finely spinulose, 16-22 x 18-24 µm. Teliospores one-celled, smooth, apically with a small, low, often missing papilla; pedicel hyaline, very short.
