No hostplant alternation. Spermogonia, aecia, uredinia, and telia amphigenous, but telia mainly on the stems. Aecia with white peridium and yellow spores, on galled spots. Uredinia light brown. Telia up to 3 cm long, dark brown; teliospores one-celled, smooth, on a long, persistent pedicel.
