No host plant alternation. Spermogonia and aecia amphigenous on roundish yellow leaf spots. Aecia in small dense groups, semi-globular, finally opening by a pore. Uredinia and telia amphigenous, ih circles on yellow to red leaf spots. Uredinia chocolate-brown, pulverulent; spores wit 1-2 pores. Telia brown, first covered by the silvery epidermis, then pulverulent; spores one-celled, elliptic, 15-28 x 25-45 µm, smooth, apically a distinct papilla; pedicel short, hyaline, easily deciduous.
