No host plant alternation. Spermogonia, aecia, uredinia, and telia amphigenous. Aecia in groups, generally on pale or red brown leaf spots, cupulate with recurved margin; spores yellow. Uredinia cinnamon brown, pulverulent; spores with 2-3(4) equatorial pores. Telia long covered by the epidermis, dark brown, compact; spores one-celled, ovoid, smooth; pedicel persistent, up to 110 µm.
