No host plant alternation. Infected plants are considerably disfigured. Aecia yellow, cupulate, on the stems and yellow spots at the underside of the leaves. No uredininia are formed. Telia on galled spots of the stems and leaves (underside), brownish black, after erosion of the lead coloured epidermis. Spores one-celled, irregular in shape; pedicel about as long as the spore, persistent.
