on Polystichum


uredinia hypophyllous, pustulate, subepidermal; the discoloured epidermis eventually ruptures, creating a central pore; urediniospores club-like, finely sparsely spinulate, on a short stalk. Telia hypophyllous on brown zones on overwintered fronds; teliospores intracellar in epidermis cells, consisting of a variable, often large, number of cells.
