No host plant alternation; no aecia or uredinia. Spermogonia epiphyllous, brown, mostly missing. Telia hypophyllous, brown, pulverulent, without paraphyses, causing no leaf spots. Spores two-celled (but easily falling apart), the cells strongly verrucose, the top one globular, the lower one often more elongated.
