lead-cloloured, up to 2 cm wide, amphigenous leaf spots, and fusiform swelling at the stem; inside a black, more or less agglutinated or weakly powdery mass of spore balls. These consist of 1-30 spores, completely covered by a layer of smaller, sterile cells.
