gall
sori as blister-like swelling of the leaf veins, petioles, and stems. When they are ripe and rupture, a black powdery-granular mass of spore balls is released. The spore balls consist of 1-7 spores; the cover of sterile cells that is the hallmark of Urocystis is reduced here to just a few cells.
