In the eventually rupturing utriculi develops a black, compact, mass of spores that disintegrates into angular fragments. Spores 13-13 µm, echinulate.

Occasionally also C. magellanica & subsp. irrigua, rotundata, viridula. Tomasi (2014a) additionally cites C. acuta (“gracilis”).
