the inflorescence is transformed into a dark brown granular-powdery mass of spore balls and threadlike remnants of vascular bundles. Initially the whole is still covered by the leaf sheath and by a membrane of fungal material, that later flakes off. The 40-80 µm long spore balls, consisting of a large number of spores, easily desintegrate.
