numerous orange red warts, op to 0.2 mm in size, on the leaves that often are more or less distorted. In a later resting stage the warts are grey.

Under laboratory conditions several other Asteraceae could be infected by this fungus, including Carthamus tinctorius and Helianthus annuus.
