Pezizomycotina (= Euascomycetes)

These fungi form a mycelium consisting of filiform, septate hyphae. The pores in the septs are of a simple type. The asci develop from specialised, “ascogenous” hyphae, that normally form part of a fruiting body, an “ascocarp”.
