During the summer leaf spots develop (also, as “scab” on the fruits) as a superficial mycelium where large masses of asexual conidia are formed. Also on the branches lesions may develop. Sexual reproduction takes place in perithecia that are formed in spring on the overwintered fallen leaves. Conidiophores angular, niet annulate. Conidia solitary, smooth, olive brown, 5-11 x 10-34 µm, 0-1-septate.
