mycelium amphigenous, often also on the shoots, dense, often persistent. Conidia solitary, elliptic, without fibrosin bodies. Cleistothecia with 3-5 asci that contain 4-8 spores. Generally 8-16 appendages, attached to the equator. They are 1-2 x as long as the diameter, stiff, hyaline, without or with one sept, more or less straight; at the tip they are suddenly broadened because they are bifurcating there several times in quick succession; the apices are crook-shaped.
