Mycelium amphigenous, also on stems, thin, forming white patches, evanescent to persistent; appressoria poorly developed to nipple-shaped, solitary. Conidiophores
80–230(−290) μm long (without conidia), basal septum at the junction with the mother
hypha or only slightly elevated; foot-cell cylindrical, followed by 1–3(–4) shorter cells. Cleistothecia (only on Cichorium and Lactuca) amphigenous, diameter usually 80–130 μm; appendages numerous, 0.4-4 x the diameter, arising from the lower half, mycelioid, simple, brown at their base; asci 5–25, two-spored.
