mycelium amphigenous, also on the stems, with spots that eventually coalesce. Appressoria nipple-shaped, not paired, sometimes several on a single cell. Cleistothecia with 8-15 asci, containing 2, rarely 3, spores. Appendages numerous, sub-equatorial, 0.2-1.5 x the diameter; they are mycelioid, generally unbranched, septate, hyaline at first, eventually brown.
