mycelium hypophyllous, weak, effuse, often inconspicuous. Appressoria nipple- to rod-like, single or paired. Conidia single, elliptic to dumb-bell shaped, without fibrosin bodies. Cleistothecia hypophyllous with an equatorial circle of 5-15 stiff, acicular appendages that are abruptly swollen at their base, 1-2 as long as the diameter of the cleistothecium. Asci 10-40, with 2(-3) spores.
