mycelium both internal and external; external mycelium amphigenous but mainly hypophyllous, conspicuous, white. Appressoria rod-like, hooked, lobes, sometimes forked, single or paired. Conidia formed singly, clavate, without fibrosin bodies. Foot cell of conidiophore spirally twisted. Cleistothecia hypophyllous with an equatorial circle of 6-18 stiff, acicular appendages that are abruptly swollen at their base, about as long as the diameter of the cleistothecium. Asci 18-30 with two spores.
