mycelium amphigenous, also on other parts of the plant, white, later forming brown to almost black films or crusts. Conidia formed in chains, with fibrosin bodies. Cleistothecia contain a single ascus with 6- spores. Appendages in variable numbers, sub-equatorial, 0.5-6 x the diameter; they are brown, septate, mostly unbranched.
