One or more internodes all round and mostly over their total length, wrapped in a while, later yellowish fungal mass (stroma). The internodes are hardly or not at all swollen.

In the literature known to me, E. glyceriae is only mentioned from the North American grass Glyceria striata. Because all known Epichloë species are strictly monophagous, the picture above must indicate a new host plant for the fungus.
