uredinia 0.5 mm, yellow, hypophyllous, on especially at the upper side discoloured leaf spots, with club-shaped paraphyses of which the wall apically is strongly thickened; spores 14-17 x 14-19 µm, wall spinulose, 2-4 µm thick. Telia usually hypophyllous, subepidermal, brownish; spores pillar-shaped.
