most uredinia mostly hypophyllous, orange, the opposite site of the leaf with reddish colouration. Spores 14-18 x 22-38 µm; wall thick (3 µm). Between the spores numerous thick-walled paraphyses with a well-differentiated head (next to a minority of thin-walled clavate ones) Telia epiphyllous, subcuticular, dark brown pulvinate, up to 1 mm.
