No host alternation, only uredinia and telia. Uredinia mainly hypophyllous, yellowish, causing not leaf spots; spores 14-19 x 18-25 µm, without obvous germination pores. Between the spores clavate or capitate paraphyses. Telia forming hypophyllous crusts, initially flesh-coloured, in the end dark brown; spores cylindrical, sub-epidermal.
