no alternation of host plant. Aecia hypophyllous, orange, without a peridium but surrounded by some paraphyses. Uredinia like the aecia but smaller, surrounded by numerous paraphyses. Teliospores long pedicellate, dark brown, transversely divided into c. 3-5 cells, top cell tapering into a short apiculus; pedicel colourless, persistent, strongly hygroscopic.
