No host plant alternation, no spermogonia or aecia. In fact no uredinia either: the few orange urediniospores are formed in the telia. Telia extensive, mainly hypophyllous, rust coloured. Teliospores one-celled, brown, coarsely verrucose, pedicel with a septum, (26)32-39(48) µm. The pedicel breaks off on the septum.

synonyms

this species is considered by some conspecific with, are a mere variety of, T. melospora. In fact, the morphological difference is not impressive: the teliospores are about 15% larger.
