The identification of the pictures above is far from definite. From Europe only a few observations G. asiaticum are known, in gardens and based on telia. Moreover, in the literature hawthorn is listed only with hesitation as a host plant. Julia Kruse (in mail to Cor Zonneveld) rather thinks of G. clavariiforme.
