No host alternation known, only uredinia and telia. Uredinia yellowish brown, long covered by the epidermis, with many hyaline, flexible, up to 60 µm long paraphyses; spores 14-18 x 21-28 µm, with 2-3 equatorial germination pores, not capped by a papilla. Telia black, on the leaf sheaths, long covered by the epidermis; spores 2-celled, clavate, 14-21 x 33-47; pedicel yellow to brown, deciduous, up t0 35 µm.
