No host plant alternation, no uredinia. Aecia hypophyllous, yellowish, deeply sunken in the host tissue, usually opening slit-like, peridium poorly developed. Telia dark brown, up to 1 mm. Teliospores two-celled, elliptic, almost smooth; pedicel hyaline, fragile, short.
