No alternation of host plant. Spermogonia yellowish, amhpigenous. Aecia hypophyllous, often along the veins, with a slit-like opening, Uredinia hypophyllous, cinnamon coloured. Urediniospores with 3 germination pores. Telia mainly hypophyllous, black. Teliospores 2-celled, short-elliptic; wall with a reticulate structure.
