Plant Parasites of Europe

leafminers, galls and fungi

Puccinia artemisiae-maritimae

Puccinia artemisiae-maritimae Fahrendorff, 1941

on Artemisia

gall

similar to P. absinthii. The distance between the spines on the urediniospores is 3-4 µm (in absinthii 4-5 µm) and the thickness of the lateral cell wall is 3 µm (in absinthii 1.5-2 µm). Gäumann writes for this species that the uredinia cover the entire underside of the leaf; perhaps this is an additional character.

host plants

Asteraceae, narrowly monophagous

Artemisia caerulescens, maritima, rupestris, santonicum
