No alternation of host plant. Aecia pustulate with a slit-like opening, in small groups on the leaves and petioles on galled spots. Uredinia hypophyllous, cinnaber coloured, on yellowed spots at the upperside of the leaf. Urediniospores 18-25 x 25-32 µm, with 3 equatorial pores, each covered by a low papilla. Telia blackish brown hypophyllous, naked, pulverulent. Teliospores 2-celled, wall with a reticulate structure (sometimes very shallow, and then almost invisible). Germination pores of the top cel apical, the one of the lower cell not far from the attachment of the pedicel.
