No host plant alternation, no aecia. Uredinia on leaves and stems, causing malformations; powdery, light brown; spores spinulose, with 2 pores that are not surrounded by a spine-less zone. Telia form dark brown crusts on the stems. Teliospores 2-celled, weakly constricted, top and bottom rounded; the wall is uniformly thin, spinulose; pedicel short, deciduous.
