no host plant alternation, only, mainly hypophyllous, telia on leaf spots, up to 1.5 mm. Two different types of spores are formed in separate telia: spores that germinate immediately (in cinnamon brown, compact sori, spores on a permanent pedicel of up to 40 µm) and spores that germinate only after hibernation (sori deep brown and pulverulent, spores with a deciduous pedicel of < 15 µm).
