gall
No host plant alternation; only telia. Telia mostly hypophyllous, on yellowed spots, dark brown, sometimes merging into up to 1 cm large cushions. Spores two-celled; apex with a thickened wall.
host plants
Asteraceae, monophagous
Cirsium acaulon, alsophilum, appendiculatum, erisithales, heterophyllum, hypoleucum, oleraceum, palustre, vulgare.
Gäumann additionally mentions Centaurea benedicta; this is not repeated by Klenke & Scholler. Also the reference by Bahçecioğlu a.o. to Achillea kotschyi, phrygia, tenuifolia and Aster amellus does not fit in the pattern. From the Macaronesian archipelago Beltran Tejera and Gjaerum add Galactites tomentosus. The reference to Achillea in Roskam (2019a) applies to P. millefolii.
synonyms
