No host alternation. Aecia are missing. Spermogonia amphigenous, numerous. Spores s24-28 x 32-35 µm, with 2 (3,4) germination pores, each one capped by a hyaline papilla; wall apically somewhat thickened. Telia hypophyllous, minute, black, often derived from an uredinium; spores 2-celled, oval; wall smooth but of irregular thickness; pedicel short, hyaline, fragile.
