No host plant alternation; no spermatia or aecia. Uredinia and telia epiphyllous; uredinia often on hypophyllous violet leaf spots. Uredinia yellow, with many paraphyses; these clublike, with a homogenous wall thickness. Urediniospores 18-26 x 24-32 µm, with 3-5 germination pores. Telia (if at all present) black, tiny, without paraphyses; spores 2-celled, on a short, persistent pedicel.
