No host plant alternation, only tela. Infested leaves stand erect above the plant, with the upperside rolled inwards, exposing the telia-covered underside. Teliospores brown, on a sort pedicel, two-celled, weakly constricted, apically with a conspicuous, hyaline papilla.

The host plant is native in New Zealand, and is cultivated as a cover plant in gardens. The rust made its appearance in Italy in 2004.
