No host plant alternation. Spermogonia, aecia and telia hypophyllous – no uredinia are formed. Spermogonia yellow, between the aecia. Aecia with white peridium and yellow spores; they are dispersed, not arranged in clear groups. Telia also on the stems, causing there galling. They are long covered by a lead grey epidermis, eventually naked and black; spores 2-celled, 27-21 x 32-46 µm, on a long persistent pedicel, not quickly germinating.
