No host plant alternation; all phases hypophyllous. The infestation is systemic, the entire plant is diseased. Aeciospores verruculose, without larger deciduous warts. Uredinia are not formed. Telia dark brown. Teliospores two-celled, smooth, brown, top cell with an apical germination pore, capped by a broad, hyaline papilla. Pedicel long, hyaline, deciduous.
