No host plant alternation; aecia are missing. Spermogonia amphigenous honey-coloured. Uredinia and telia amphigenous, , also on the stem, pulverulent, light and dark brown, respectively. Urediniospores 19-22 x 22-27 µm, spinulose, with 2 conspicuous equatorial germination pores opposite one another. Teliospores 18-25 x 28-40 µm, elliptic, 2-celled, verruculose; pedicel short, fragile, hyaline.
