uredinia and telia mainly on the leaves, less often, and then als small sori on the culm. Uredinia long covered by the epidermis, brown, eventually turning into telia. Urediniospores yellowish brown, one-celled, finely spinulose, with 2 equatorial germination pores. Telia partly deriving from the uredinia, blackish brown. Teliospores two-celled, smooth, apical wall of the top cell clearly thickened; spores on pale, rather long, persistent pedicels.
