No host plant alternation; only uredinia and telia, both hypophyllous, cinnamon coloured and almost black, respectively; the telia may merge into black crusts. Urediniospores spinulose, 19-25 x 21-29 µ. Teliospores 2-celled, 14-25 x 40-60 µm, wall smooth, pedicel persistent.
