Spermogonia yellow, in large groups. No aecia. Uredinia amphigenous, chestnut brown. Telia mainly hypophyllous, long covered by the epidermis, eventually black. Mixed sori are common. Urediniosporen 15-17 x 26-38 µm, wall colourless with 3-6 germination pores. Teliospores two-celled, on a short pedicel.
