no host plant alternation, only telia. The telia consist of a compact centre of spores the germinate almost immediately, surrounded by brown pulverulent sori with spores that only germinate after hibernation. The hibernating spores have a comparatively thick, brown wall and a deciduous pedicel; the soon hibernating spores have a thinner, yellowish to hyaline wall and a more persistent pedicel.
