No host plant alternation, only telia. Telia predominantly on the stems, petioles and midribs, long covered by the epidermis, eventually black. Spores two-celled, short-elliptic, smooth. Infected shoots form conspicuous witches’ brooms, with stiffly erect branches and small, closely set leaves.
